Mrs Potatohead's new pet

Finally I won't have to get Mrs Potatohead a real dog. This should do the 'trick' nicely! --> Nintendogs

Gas Prices

Gas price did the inevitable today... they crested over $1/liter here in Kelowna. Gas stations that aren't $1 compliant are using plastic ground level pricing boards.

We are off to Vancouver contribute to gas demand.

First Blogging Anniversary

Well, I started this little blog a year ago today. Over the course of the year we made 22 posts, which is less than two a month and doesn't really give anyone much reason to stop by more than once.

Though it was a quiet year of posts, it has been quite a busy year for me. The company I worked for swallowed another company, until we were swallowed by a bigger fish. The past year has been a flurry of integration tasks and changes. Most of those tasks are complete now yet, now its all about going forward.

As if the year wasn't weird enough, I... Mr Potatohead (Technophile, Office Glen) bought a Mac... not just a Mac, but one of those fancy portable ones. After about 13 years of running Windows I switched my primary home work station to another operating system. So far I am very pleased with the product and now I could be considered one of those Mac bigots that scoffs at anything unMac... After buying a Dell DJ (Gen 2, 20GB) and then buying the PowerBook I realize how little innovation goes into most products out there. I'd rather haul my PowerBook AC adapter than my Dell DJ AC adapter / big ugly pile of cable.

OS X (Panther, now Tiger) is beautiful and functional. Hell, even Microsoft gets inspired to make a much better product. Entourage (Outlook for Mac) does everything better... from remote email access with WebDAV, to simple project management that ties your email and projects together, to a basic media player for playing .wav voicemail files.

Mrs Potatohead in the past year, has upgraded a couple high school courses, and nearly completed the certified dental assisting (CDA) program and will be looking for work shorting.

Well, that is it for now. Thanks for stopping by.... Not really sure why you are here but oh well.

Gerbil Hunter

This was one of those geocaching days that creates long term memories.

We were in the zone of this cache. Zeroing in on it, and we thought that we had found it. Strange container though... uhm... A shoe box.... odd... I walked it over to the nearby bridge and opened it up. AHHH! A dead gerbel. Not what I was expecting. Someone decided to use a nearby rotten tree stump as a burial spot for the family pet.
