Tough Mudder Now I know that I have use this blog for mostly kid things but I am taking on a new challenge and I thought I should write some things down that I have been doing. Tough mudder is a 10-12 mile race that has 25 obstacles to do. It is a challenge not a race so it is all about completing rather than a race. This is one of the first things that appealed to me. I am not a runner so marathons and such did not interest me. I wanted to challenge myself somehow and get into shape so I found the mudder and thought it was perfect. I have been doing kick boxing since August of 2011 and asked a couple girls from class to join me. They were excited and keen. Soon we were asking friends and family to join us and our team has grown to 17 people. We are now at the 2 month mark and I am panicking a little but it is good. We are starting a new training program and I am hoping that over the next 2 months I can whip my body in shape. I am really going to try my best to get in the workouts without disrupting the family too much. This will mean early mornings and getting in what I can when I can. I hope to do a little something each day and hope that it is enough to get. There are times that I think "what am I getting into" and "Am I really doing this?" And the answers scares me. But I will be so happy and proud when I finish and have that orange headband on! Good luck to my team mates and myself. TOUGH MUDDER!!!

Well I once again am beginning this post with: It has been too long since I last posted. Anyway I am posting now so that will have to be good enough. Where to start?
Katie has been growing so fast and it is hard to believe that she is 11 months old already. She got her first teeth Nov 11 and the top teeth came in around the middle of March. She is about 20 lbs now and doing so well. She began crawling Dec 18, the first day of Glen's Christmas holidays, it was so nice that he was home to see it happen. With him at work he misses out on some of the firsts. Katie is such a happy baby and I could not ask for better. She is playing with Isaac a lot and trying to figure out just what he is up to all the time. It is so fun to watch them play, and it will only get better as Katie gets bigger. Just like her brother she has lots to say and many facial expressions. She nods her head yes, and when she is into something she shouldn't be (like dog food) I tell her "Katie No!" then she proceeds to shake her head at me. I can't help but laugh. March 31 is a date to keep in mind as this is the day she really tried walking. She is getting more and more brave taking a few steps from the couch to the ottoman or short distances, no more than 3-4 steps but it is a start and I imagine it won't be long til she is chasing Isaac down the hall.
Isaac is doing really well and keeps us on our toes with the many questions and statements he comes up with. He sometimes says things that baffle us, for example, the other day he was talking to grandma on the phone and he was telling her about a new video game and he used the word "impressive." Glen and I looked at each other and just laughed cause it is so funny to hear such big words from our little man. Not only using them, but using them in the right context. Isaac has started daycare two days a week. At first he was not keen on going but now he has made a few good friends and he looks forward to seeing them each time. He has learned quite a bit there. He can spell his name and is working on writing it. We still need to work on his alphabet, he can finish it from Q -Z now it is just the beginning.
I start back to work this Monday (BOO HOO) for two days a week. I have made a deal with my boss that I will work Mon and Wed for one year and we will revisit it next April and see if I can continue or if I need to go back to full time. I really am hoping it works out. I don't really want to work while the kids are home but in order to keep my licence I need 200 hours of practice time. This will give me my hours and time at home. The time at work will be nice, a break from the kids and a chance to talk to some adults he he. Glen is staying home one day with the kids and my mom is watching them the other day. Isaac is at daycare Mon and Thurs but will hopefully be changing to Wed so that Katie will be home on the days I work and then i will have time with both kids when I am off.
Glen will be working 4 ten hour shifts in order to watch Katie on Wednesdays. It will make for some longer days but it saves on daycare costs and is good for both Glen and the kids.
That is a little bit about what has been happening in our lives these days. We will see how long til the next post.

I haven't done very well at tracking our baby girl's growth as I have been busy with the two kids. I am going to try my hardest to remember what has been going on in the last 5 months.
Katie started out a little bigger than Isaac and had continued to grow quickly. She has put weight on really well and has beautiful round cheeks and butterball legs. Katie has done really well with breast feeding and has just today tried rice cereal. Katie is very strong and she loves to be in her exersaucer and jolly jumper. She has just started rolling over. I think that it has taken her a little longer than Isaac because she likes to be upright more than on the floor. She is down to two 2-3 hour naps and heads for bed at about 730. She has just started sleeping in her crib at night, and sometimes during the day. Other times she sleeps in our bed.
I am not sure but she could be getting a tooth already, or she is just beginning to drool alot. If I remember right Isaac was a very drooly baby and didn't get a tooth til he was about 8 months.
We love our little girl and are so happy we have the perfect family and can't wait for the many new things that Katie will do as time goes on. Although it is fun to watch her grow I really wish that time would slow down a little so that I can enjoy her even more. Katie will be 6 months old in two weeks so i will blog once again and put in any updates that i may have forgotten.

On November 10 we are officially saying that Isaac is walking. He had been walking for about a month before but only a few steps here and there. On the 10th he was walking down the hall and all over. We still think it is so funny to look around the corner and there Isaac is walking, weird to see when we are so used to him crawling everywhere.
We have put up a fence in our backyard so now Pico can go out without a leash and Isaac will have a place to play and call his own. My mom and dad were so great and basically built it for us.
I am now back to work and it is not as bad as I was imagining. It is kind of nice to talk to adults again but I still miss my little guy. My mom is looking after him for us during the day and it is working out really well. We visit both grandparents alot and Isaac has no trouble being left with any of them. It is so wonderful to have them so close, not only for babysitting but for fun!

August 5, 2008 - Isaac cut his third tooth.
August 23, 2008 - Isaac cut his fourth tooth.
This summer has come with alot of changes, good ones, and family visits. As noted above Isaac now has four teeth. He is enjoying eating all kinds of new foods. So far he has no real dislikes which is so wonderful. I hope that it stays that way.
Glen had three weeks off with us and we had a wonderful time. We went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Ferrell for the first week. We then stayed around here for the remainder of the time. It was so great to spend time as a family. We also had alot of visitors. I think we saw almost everyone on my side of the family this summer. So great to see some people we haven't seen for some time.
Now I am counting down the days til I go back to work. This is not a happy count down, I really am going to miss our little boy and I have quite enjoyed becoming a bit of a susey homemaker. But if plans go well I am hoping to have an announcement next spring and then possibly I will stay home with the kids. My mom is so wonderful and will be looking after Isaac while we are working. It is such a relief to have her watch him for us.
